  •  - Resources on working, traveling, and living abroad

 Study or Research overseas

    • CLS provides fully funded rigorous academic instruction in fourteen languages that are critical to America's national security and economic prosperity Students of diverse disciplines and majors are encouraged to apply.  Contact CSUEB's CLS advisor kelly.moran@csueastbay.edu to learn more and start your application.

    • For U.S. Citizens aged 18 1/2 to 24 at the start of the program
    • One year program with 3 phases
      • Two months of intensive German language training
      • One semester of classes in one’s academic or career field at a university, technical or professional school
      • Three to five month internship in one’s career field
    • Short term summer programs in the UK
    • U.S. undergraduates (with at least 2 years left in their degree program)
    • Minimum 3.7 gpa
    • Little or no prior international experience
    • Roundtrip airfare, tuition, housing and some meals are covered by the program 
  • U.S. Student Fulbright Program
    • Grants for up to one year of graduate study or research overseas.  U.S. citizens are welcome to apply anytime from their senior year and beyond (as long as you have not completed a Ph.D.)

  • - The Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sport, Science and Technology (MEXT) scholarship for Research or Graduate school in Japan.
  • -  Provides students with a free, personalized and comprehensive service to help them achieve their ambitions of studying in Britain. Whether you are applying to undergraduate or graduate programs at one of their partner universities in the UK, they ensure that each student is best matched in terms of their academic and personal goals. Across The Pond is able to offer this customized free service because they are funded entirely by partner universities in Britain to represent them in North America.

    • 海角社区 to participate as an English Teaching Assistant for a year overseas! U.S. citizens are welcome to apply anytime from their senior year and beyond (as long as you have not completed a Ph.D.)

  • - program places young professionals from the US and India in service with communities and organizations across the two countries for mutual learning, capacity building, and leadership development in support of social justice
  • - Fund research and language study proposals by U.S. graduate students in world regions critical to U.S. interests.  Need help looking for language programs as you prepare your Boren Fellowship application?  See that recent recipients participated in.  Curious where (and which languages) the recent Boren recipients are going to study?  Check out
  •  - (New since 2023) a two-year paid fellowship that aims to increase the diversity of professionals in the humanitarian sector by building a pathway for recent graduates of Minority-Serving Institutions. Fellows are immersed into humanitarian work through firsthand placement at humanitarian organizations and building a foundation through invaluable field experience.
  • - Open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents, the Luce Scholars Program provides stipends, language training, and individualized professional placement in Asia for 18 Luce Scholars each year.
  • - Both Full and Partial awards for graduate study at McGill University (Canada).  
  • - The Payne Fellowship is a program that aims to attract and prepare outstanding young people for careers in the Foreign Service of USAID.  Fellowship benefits include: tuition assistance for a two year Master's degree at a U.S. institution, two summer placements (one in Washington, D.C., the second in an overseas location with USAID.)  After completion of the master's degree, Payne Fellows will receive placement with USAID and are required to serve for a minimum of 5 years as a USAID Foreign Service Officer.
